The Bentley Mulsanne is or if not the most iconic sedan of the brand’s history. The sedan was to take on the Rolls Royce Phantom which it did to an extent before Bentley discontinued it. We all know that it is powered by a 6.75 twin-turbo V8 outputting 523hp. We also know that it is mated with an 8-speed ZF  automatic transmission. But that doesn’t matter anymore because what matters are the people responsible for this iconic sedan.

The Bentley Mulsanne is a handcrafted piece of work that takes up to 400 hours to complete. It will be the last Bentley to use Rear Wheel Drive and the 6.75V8. The final examples of the sedan will be produced once the Crewe factory resumes operations following the COVID-19epidemic.

The people who are responsible for this iconic sedan had some nice last words to say before closing the curtain. Here is what some of them had to say about it.

“For me, the Mulsanne will always be one of the projects that I am most proud of,” said Crispin Marshfield, responsible for the exterior design of the Mulsanne. “Over time the Mulsanne has become recognised as a modern icon, quite unlike anything else on the road.”

“The Mulsanne was extremely ambitious in its engineering. With an all-new body structure, electrical architecture, interior and exterior designs, together with a heavily re-engineered chassis and engine,” said Peter Guest who was responsible for the Head of Body & Trim for the Mulsanne.

“The Mulsanne for me is the perfect combination of our Bentley heritage and our transition into the modern volume age,” said Rob Thompson, Head of Bentley’s Paint Shop

“There is no doubt in my mind that Bentley achieved the ultimate in luxury with each and every Mulsanne it has produced.” Said, Donna Murrey, the manager of the Mulsanne’s assembly process.

Hans Holzgartner joined Bentley in 2007 as Marketing Product Manager for the Mulsanne. “As a Product Manager you are able to introduce materials, crafts and features that other carmakers couldn’t even dream of, such as solid stainless steel bright ware that is hand-polished for ten hours, to name but one.”

Other people at the assembly of the sedan also spoke about the sedan and how passionate they are about it. We can’t list all because it will be too much write up. Truly it’s a touching speech given to an iconic sedan which will become a classic sooner rather than later.
